New Case Study: Importance of Marine VHF Radio for Lifeboat Operations

New Case Study: Importance of Marine VHF Radio for Lifeboat Operations

Like all lifeboat stations, marine VHF radios are an important part of the rescue equipment for Southport Lifeboat, who provide a search and rescue service along the Merseyside and West Lancashire coastline.

Manned entirely by volunteers, Southport Lifeboat attends a wide variety of call outs from boating incidents, such as a tow in or a capsize, to beach related incidents including medical evacuations, beach searches for missing people and mud rescues.

The Lifeboat uses a variety of marine VHF radios including ICOM base units and handhelds…they even have fixed VHF radios on each of their quad bikes.

To find out about the important work that the volunteers of the station do and the role ICOM radios play, read the case study by clicking on ‘Importance of Marine VHF Radio for Lifeboat Operations – A Southport Lifeboat Case Study’.
