What is 5-Tone Signaling?

1. Although it is dubbed as 5-Tone, this signaling protocol consists of a fast data burst of one (1) to seven (7) frequency tones that can selectively signal a radio.
2. Originally a European signaling protocol, 5-Tone has numerous formats such as CCIR, ZVEI, ZVEI2, DZV1, EEA, EEA2, DAPL, EIA and DTMF (Dual Tone Multi Frequency) *Check model for availability.
3. EIA is the International Open Standard set by the Electronics Industries Association.
4. 5-Tone adds specificity to the squelch abilities of commercial two way radios.
